B.C. Cancer Agency pulls funding for pricey thalidomide

The B.C. Cancer Agency will cease funding the drug thalidomide for new bone cancer patients, citing the notorious drug’s $2 million annual budget cost as “no longer tenable.” Of the 165 B.C. patients who have been prescribed the drug in the past year for multiple myeloma, those who are still on it will be grandfathered into the new policy effective …

Trial to collect data, help improve vision

Bert Harbin, 75, can sum up his vision problem succinctly: “Dark items got darker.” Even after cataract surgery last fall, he found he had trouble picking out dark motorcycles driving next to him on the road and other dark objects at night.
